ABOUT THE SEED MANDALA WORKSHOP

Mandalas are circular designs with a geometric, often symmetrical configuration of symbols, shapes or patterns. In spiritual traditions they are frequently used to focus attention, induce meditation and represent and "wholeness", interconnectedness and continuity of life. Mandalas, or mandala-like designs, are prevalent in all cultures and are made of an endless variety of materials and sizes.

At the end of the workshop, the individual pieces are used to create a large mandala wall-display, teaching participants how, like with most things in life, their own beautiful creation becomes even more amazing when it becomes part of something larger.

The workshop starts with a PowerPoint presentation about the history and significance of mandalas and about circular symmetry. After I explain the method, tools and materials, each participant creates their own mandala on a provided surface.

The mandala workshop requires a minimum of one 3-hour session or two 1.5-hour sessions for adults and one 4-hour session or two 2-hour sessions for children.

All materials are provided. The workshop is available for all ages, skill levels and group sizes. Groups of more than 10 children or 15 adults require one assistant or more, depending on group size. In school-settings, the presence of the lead-teacher is required at all times.
